Dinesh Bhugra CBE is a professor of mental health and diversity at the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London. He is an honorary consultant psychiatrist at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and is former president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is currently president elect of the World Psychiatric Association. Bhugra became chair of the Mental Health Foundation in 2011, and was awarded his CBE in the 2012 New Year Honours for services to psychiatry following three years as the president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists This same year he became the first ever UK-based psychiatrist to be voted president elect of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), he will serve as president beginning in 2014.
